Visit to Fuente de La Peña High School students in Jaén, Spain

Davison Church of England High School for Girls travels to meet Fuente de La Peña High School students in Jaén, Spain A group of 34 Davison Church of England High School girls recently took part in a Spanish immersion trip with students from Fuente de la Peña High School, Spain. An exciting programme had been planned which started with a walking tour in Madrid after the students landed. After a whistle-stop tour of the country’s capital the students travelled down to the city of Jaén in Andalusia where they would be staying for the week.

The students were able to meet their new Spanish counterparts the following day at the school where they enjoyed the language orientated project work, a treasure trail around the town, and a tasty tapas evening.

Friday and Saturday were spent exploring some of the historical and shopping sites of the town and in nearby Granada, including the majestic Castillo de Santa Catalina which sits at the top of hill looking over Jaén and the famous Alhambra Palace. Combined with bowling, games in the park and time to update their diaries it was an enjoyable but tiring couple of days.

The last full day in Jaén was spent leaning a little more about the culture of Spain, with a salsa dance lesson in which most students took part and enjoyed. The afternoon with the Spanish students was fun and brought out the competitive natures through the bilingual quiz and drama competition, the week was finished off with a disco and pizza night, giving the students to talk and socialise with their new foreign friends
